Ghm4Always learningI have followed Gladwell for years. Crazy curious and smart. Able to delve into such a range of topics and find what is important. Who knew laundry could be so interesting? Thank you thank you.

Wannabe dorkTake It For What It IsI don’t have to agree with talent to accept it as legitimate tales. Great diverse set of topics. I don’t always agree with the personal opinions of this guy, I do more than not, but I thought that’s what we were shooting for here, a diverse marketplace of reflective articulate ideas. I don’t always agree but It’s always interesting. I don’t always agree but there have been more than a few times where when I did agree I had previously felt like I was alone in the world with that particular viewpoint. He doesn’t hold back much and yet isn’t aggressive and it’s always interesting. What more could one hope for. Time very well spent listening.

Dr NorrisResearch on Western imagesSee Roger McGrath’s 1987 book, “Gunfighters, Highwaymen, and Vigilantes” (University of California Press). He covered most of these issues (e.g. effects of “Gunsmoke”)quite well. Michael E. Norris, PhD

xXxSCORPxXxHard passLike Sam Harris in debate with Jordan Peterson, Gladwell was exposed as a straw man employing histrionic twit by an actual intellectual (“Doug” Murray).

lpotter12345Shame on youMalcom Gladwell who are you to say working in an office is best for the average person? You make your living writing books and podcasting. You get to structure your own life and much or as little as you want. I used to enjoy your books, but I cannot support someone who is attacking the one thing that has improved my quality of life more than anything else. How could it be better to stay in a soul sucking office, wasting time on a commute every day? I have more free time and energy to spend than I ever have. I’m still performing at a high level, and my relationships with my colleagues, friends and partner are better than ever. Shame on you for attacking the best thing that has happened to the corporate working class in decades just for attention. Stop it.

Atlanta GrillerMalcolm, Rethink the PSA!!As an ardent fan and follower of Revisionist History, I was disappointed that Malcolm stated on the RH podcast, The Dog Will See you Now (overall an amazing story), that he would not get a PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) test for prostate screening. This test, although by no means perfect as Malcom pointed out, has resulted in early detection for prostate cancer and thus saved or extended countless lives from this most common type of cancer in men in the U.S. (other than skin cancer). As a physician and cancer survivor whose prostate cancer was initially detected by a routine screening PSA, I recommend Malcom rethink his stand on this simple and useful screening test. It might save your life!

Josh7_08Love it!Malcolm Gladwell is the Bob Ross of complex thought. The beauty of this podcast and his books is not that he wants you to adopt his views, but to learn how to question your own in a healthy manner. My only question: is anyone researching how to recreate a dog’s olfactory capabilities?

RestaurantuerJust ListenEveryone should listen to every episode of Revisionist History, where the seemingly mundane is rendered utterly fascinating and you leave your preconceived notions by the wayside. Prepare to delight in the seemingly ordinary.

krg121Interesting topics... questionable deliveryI've listened on and off since this was first launched so I have some history with this podcast. I enjoy the topics presented and appreciate the intended direction, but I feel the commentary is often so slanted as to not give the audience any chance to decide on our own. And by that, I mean the tone of voice and inflection of the presenter. If I wanted a preacher telling me where I went wrong, I would go to church. Malcolm Gladwell is engaging, but he often comes across as an elitist with such a dismissive tone at times, as if HIS opinion is the only one that matters. And if we don't agree, we're ignorant. If you want to widen your audience where some of these topics might really be helpful to people, Malcolm needs to learn how to relate to the "everyman/woman". If that's not the goal, then I was correct in my assessment.

MainStreet1Makes the Important and Arcane interesting.Malcolm has a pleasing delivery, important when you’re committing to listening to someone talk at you, non stop, for an hour. Most importantly, his podcasts, like his books, are impeccably researched. You may not agree with Mr Gladwell but he knows where of he speaks. Regardless of the topic Mr Gladwell maintains a steady, measured cadence. He’ll tell you if something bothers him but until then his delivery makes room for the listener to make their own decision about how they feel about an issue. You’ll learn a lot, and may find yourself digging deeper into a topic that you previously 1. Had little interest in, or 2. Didn’t know it was a thing. Always enjoyable, always interesting.

alissatttI am sadI love Malcolm Gladwell so much and this podcast. When you are brilliant, you are the best. So why am I sad? Cause sometimes you are sounding like an infomercial. I want to know WHY? Please stop.

Big E since birthThis podcast is my crack.Disclaimer: I have a lot of anger at Malcom! Taking to Strangers made me angry like I’ve almost never been angry. So I can be critical of him...but RH is utterly brilliant. The content makes me smarter and Malcolm is irresistible as a host. He makes me question everything and I am a better person for it. E

Kirk loves KhanLaw schoolsGood episode and I agree with your general point but Canada and the US have different educational institutions; at least when it comes to private education. You cannot expect an ‘elite’ university to expand its academic staff to meet its applicant students primarily because they not only insist on being competitive but because of their greed — they will not spend more money on students by hiring more staff/tenure. It would have been better if you asked an ‘elite’ university wonk that question.

LetThemHitTheFloorRape ApologistI was an avid listener, lover, and fervent defender of this show and Gladwell. Then came Gladwell’s discussion on his newest book where he talked on how when women get drunk they should expect to be raped. Many of us have the misfortune of encountering rape apologist trash in our own lives without feeding it directly into our ears. You can find this interview online along with excerpts from the book as examples of its egregious victim blaming. Gladwell is a faux intellectual who has fooled us long enough. Rape apologists have no place amongst anyone who thinks themselves progressive or decent. *Unsubscribe.*

Sassafras1232Associated with pseudoscience junkI was absolutely shocked to hear this program run an ad for the snake-oil filled pseudoscience junk Goop podcast. I would really have expected better from someone like Malcolm Gladwell.

dr. m.r.Tries hardGood hearted but sophomoric and solipsistic. Relies on emotion not the facts. Will confuse a lot of listeners with prejudice and presumption. Sad

tisa123THE BESTI listened to Episode 1 of Season 1 yesterday on the treadmill and the time flew by so quickly. I learned so much and I love how he wove together great stories from different points in time. Can’t wait to get back on the treadmill now that I have discovered these. I have four seasons to catch up on...

BoobobobovoBPE (Best podcast ever)My Absolutely favorite podcast. Intelligent, well produced, entertaining and funny. I listen to it on my way to work and my way home from work. My only complaint is that I wish he would produce more episodes. It’s too long a wait between seasons.

terrifedGladwell is my heroIn an age of brash blowhards saying a whole lot about not much at all, Malcolm Gladwell is my hero. His insatiable curiosity combined with a disarming lack of ego has made me his biggest fan. He’s so impish in his reporting. He makes me giggle at least twice an episode. I devoured all his books, so I was delighted to move onto listening to his melodic voice and rapacious wit coming straight into my ears. Thank you for continuing to provide quality content in a world so often laced with meh!!

Ohio ENTI would leave 6 stars if I could.Malcolm Gladwell’s voice is so soothing and mesmerizing that you won’t even want to forward past the ads. Incredibly thought-provoking and wonderful.

MJV15Once upon a time I liked MalcomHe has clearly become very impressed with himself. I now find him pretty difficult to take seriously.
-
MattMull1/2 the storyAnother intellectually dishonest opinion piece cloaked in being unbiased. I happen to know quite a bit about 2 of the subjects he tackled in season one and the omissions of key people and facts is either at best sloppy research or at worst an unethical attempt to sway opinions using only a select group of facts
-
PltbhbcpDeleteLovely insightful until BAM! Another naive liberal agenda. (No comas :)

junkintrunkAmazing storytellerMy commute has become a refuge. A special time just for me to listen and think about interesting topics and preconceived notions. I was hooked with the first episode, outraged by the middle of the season and telling friends by season 2. I can’t wait to hear what Malcolm has for me each day. But I have found I need to take a break every once in a while to let the ideas sink in, discover how I feel about them.
-
Jhnny42Unique, varied, always entertaining.Unusual and inventive topics with MG’s special take on them. My favorite podcast.

ThewiseacreOften needs a more critical eye to extend his thesisGladwell almost always has an interesting take on things--his overall study on how memory is infallible is a great lens to view history. But he rarely extends his observations to a global view, which reminds the listener that Gladwell has biases of his own (confirmation and cognitive bias is very common) that limit his conclusions. An example is his sweeping defense of Brian Williams--if only 60% of our flashbulb memories are true, then it would be reasonable to explore Williams' motive for making his memory a bigger lie for a decade, culminating in a highly detailed lie on television. In context of Williams' celebrity status, career impetus, and many other obvious environmental factors, Gladwell never wonders if Williams was actually a simple liar doing it for his own ego. The reality is that even in flashbulb events, people can and do intentionally lie or stretch the truth so far that at some point, they are forced to believe their own lies. There's research on that, too.

Foil FanRevisionist HistoryI have read and loved each of his books, and became an enthusiastic fast fan. I’m constantly amazed by Malcolm’s skillful approach in peeling back the layers of a subject, story, or event to focus on it in a way that others either weren’t able to see or didn’t bother to discover. His commentary woven into and around key pieces of the story as he’s telling the story are amusing and are wonderful too. More Malcolm would be just fine by me.

2boyswimmersSaigonAnyone who loves history will enjoy this podcast!

Mike85746This guy has "got it"This podcast has rapidly become one of my favorites! interesting subject matter presented in an engaging manner; great sound, so there's no problem hearing the podcast (which can totally ruin even the best material and presenter). I have learned alot about things i had no idea about from a wide range of subjects: McDonald's Fries used to taste better", Sammy Davis Jr hugged Nixon? Who knew! can't wait to dig through the archives and see what else Mr Gladwell comes up with in the future! Well done!

Eric A.M.My Favorite PodcastBrilliant, engaging, well-researched, provocative, and most importantly, RELEVANT. Revisionist History isn’t just about the history you find in textbooks - it’s also about the history that’s still making our world today. Whether he’s talking about a famine in India during WWII as it relates to Winston Churchill’s bestie or a tragically misunderstood series of car accidents from about five years ago, Gladwell always gives listeners a poignant lesson for today’s world. It’s not just straight-up cynical debunking, either. He’ll turn iconic but misunderstood civil rights era moments on their heads only to reveal the even uglier truths sadly buried underneath. He’ll tell you how one of America’s most beloved celebrities wasn’t so beloved by everyone, and then explain why that was probably unfair. A master storyteller, Gladwell’s narratives unfold gradually, take fascinating little detours and and often have you curiously eager to learn where it’s all going, just as things begin to converge and get real, usually with a surprise or twist still waiting to emerge. You may even disagree with him on occasion, but he’ll always make you think differently about things, and that’s the point. In today’s world of cloistered echo chambers, Twitter mobs, and alternative facts, Revisionist History is a welcome tonic for both the mind and the soul.

561montyRevisionist historyMy favorite app. Each story is fascinating and brilliantly presented. So much effort is involved in presenting each series that I understand why there is a hiatus between seasons. But great things are worth waiting for.
