AT&T needs to step it upBest podcast there is!!They don’t put out any podcasts. Talking To Death was supposed to be weekly. This was supposed start again. Nothing??!?!! When they actually have new content it is the best. Get and far between😑
-
melsalatlTerribleThe lastest episodes are nothing but regurgitated repeats of previous seasons and episodes. Even WITHIN the episodes it’s repetitive . Someone will tell their experience and Payne will then literally repeat verbatim what they just said, and not because the interviewee was difficult to understand, but clearly as filler. Payne is riding the coattails of his first successful season. Each successive season gets worse. Also I have come to hate Payne’s narration. He has the charisma, personality and intonation of a fifth grader reading a book report.

dixiedemonRuffeled feathersNoticing many 1-star reviews lately... and i love it! This podcast is phenomenal. The day Payne isn't being divisive, is the day I stop listening. GREAT WORK UP AND VANISHED TEAM!! Keep it up , please. (navigating the episodes on the apple podcast app on my phone is a nightmare)

AllieBobbaStarts off unbiased, but then…I’ve listened to a couple seasons and found the reporting interesting and engaging at first until he becomes emotionally involved. Then he becomes biased, and judgmental, which is a bit of a turn off for me.
-
Dubs10Not consistentVery well produced podcast, but lack of transparency around why uploads are so inconsistent. For instance, there should have been a new episode yesterday. There is no new episode and no explanation on their social media as to why.
-
urbanschoolcounselordisappointingI'm not sure what's happened here. I used to be very invested in the first few seasons. Season 4 is confusing and frustrating). There's been huge pauses in episode releases (months long pauses in episodes), and now it seems like the Florence investigation has completely and abruptly ended? I'm really disappointed. Also, selling merch feels ...insensitive. I hope Florence's family gets justice
-
podtownreviewUnfinished business and misleading advertisingSorry.. why hasn’t the loop been closed on the Nome investigation? As in: explicitly, can’t do more, so do (or don’t) stay tuned. Sort of a rhetorical question; the pod is a business and keeps the line cast. At bare minimum though, if you’re going to regurgitate old episodes it helps to make them separate seasons so it doesn’t mislead and seem like there’s an update to In The Midnight Sun

keyser_tomasiMehLet’s just say it’s no Frontline. This show does well letting people involved in the cases talk and tell their stories. It paints a picture of the complicated milieu in which these disappearances take place. But if you are looking for a hard investigation with interesting twists and turns, look elsewhere. Also, selling merch based on a podcast about missing people? 😬

lizingraftonSay no to drugs.Skip the stories of the meth heads. Any time I’ve listened to a story where the victim was a drug addict surrounded by drug addicts.. it’s a big waste of time. Nobody has reliable info. They only want to talk for $$. These ppl need to be in therapy to deal w their childhood traumas not telling unhinged stories on a podcast.
-
WhitneySimpsonGreat PodcastThanks for the updates on past cases! I’ve enjoyed revisiting them. You’re doing great work and making a difference for the victims and families!
-
OdettaDContinuing efforts and updatesI appreciate the updates on all of the cases from previous seasons. It’s very important to the victims and their families. Thanks for all the hard work at Tenderfoot.
-
_______ok______Skip it - slow and boringHands down one of the worst podcasts I have listened to. Slow, unfocused, unstructured, lame attempts at suspense, background music annoying. God bless Flo. I hope they found the suspect, but skip this podcast and save your time.
-
CrazybananananasWell researched. Some tense moments with bad people.Tenderfoot has great story telling of such an important topic, Keeping all of these missing people alive by telling their stories. I like Up and Vanished because Payne isn’t afraid to confront some scary people to get answers. He’s very persistent. Lots of research clearly goes into all the podcasts produced by tenderfoot. Payne puts lots of pressure on the communities involved which gets people to talk.

frncnn24Favorite PodcastA Gripping, Masterfully Researched True Crime Podcast Up and Vanished is hands down one of the most compelling true crime podcasts out there. From the very first episode, host Payne Lindsey pulls you into these mysterious, real-life disappearances with an unparalleled level of dedication, research, and storytelling. What truly sets this podcast apart is the sheer depth of investigation that goes into each case. Lindsey and his team leave no stone unturned, tracking down new leads, interviewing key figures, and uncovering details that have long been buried or forgotten. It’s this relentless pursuit of the truth that makes Up and Vanished more than just a retelling of cold cases—it’s an active investigation that often brings real movement to stalled cases. The passion behind this podcast is undeniable. You can feel Lindsey’s determination in every episode, his commitment to giving a voice to the victims and their families, and his drive to seek justice. The production quality is top-notch, with expertly woven narratives, gripping audio, and a pacing that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Few podcasts have the power to make you feel as invested as Up and Vanished does. It’s one of my absolute favorites—equal parts haunting, thought-provoking, and addictively engaging. If you love true crime and investigative journalism at its finest, this is a must-listen.

Extremely interested momGreat recap!Appreciate so much the recap on the investigations. Keep up the great work Payne, you are making a difference!

mariabgoodYou have got to be kiddingI listened to season 1, and the amount of time the host wasted on rumors and innuendo was really annoying. But then I gave him the benefit of the doubt that maybe he learned it is better to discuss facts, but it’s clear 4 episodes in to season 2 that he has given up on facts altogether. I won’t be wasting any more of my time on this podcast.
-
rchlsandtoesSelf Indulged HostI liked Season 1. It was the best. I couldn’t finish 2. I tried 4 and each episode is more about how the host feels and booking flights and hotel rooms and scheming. It is not about Flo. So irritating that he made this season about him.
-
Former U&A listenerPayne changedThe first season was great, but it seems to have fed Payne’s ego. Now the show no longer follows a linear pattern, constant unfulfilled promises of pertinent updates, and ultimately full of fluff. Repeat interviews and sound bites, constant retelling of Payne’s exploits, and opinions over facts. Unfortunately it’s time to find a new podcast.
-
Slamdunkle19Ad grab/ClickbaitThis podcast went from something compelling to simply rehashing old audio to keep listeners on the hook for future breakthroughs that never materialize.
-
lmb laura beaneNot interesting for first 25 minutes.Dude lol. Only interesting or relevant info is in the last 7 minutes.
-
AMChristensonDragging outCome on, how many summaries are we going to keep getting? 4 parts for season 2, which could have all been one episode with the repetition. The begging for attention from a detective ‘how many times have you contacted a podcaster for information’. We get it. We know you’re good at your job Payne. I love this podcast but quit filling us with false hope of conclusions. Putting out episodes for more clicks.
-
ThatsMyJam87Keep chasing bad guysFollowed this pod since day 1 and it still gives me chills. It’s not about recapping someone’s trauma for entertainment, it’s about justice and making an actual difference.
-
Jebbz27IncrediblePayne really has a way of captivating you in his podcast. Up and Vanished is hands down my favorite

CanDuMorDon’t bother after season twoThis podcast used to be excellent. It set the standard for production quality, and even though I have always found the narrator verbose and self-aggrandizing, I still thought the actual investigation and reporting were top notch. Not anymore. Now we’re left with dangling carrots, promises of big reveals that never come, and Payne’s rehashed dramatization of his own involvement, which he then decries the consequences of (martyrs, go home). The whole thing has become…ick. And I agree with others that the intention no longer seems to be to make an entire podcast that tells a well researched story and raises awareness—it seems to be to keep us listening and waiting for more information, so the show can generate ad revenue.
-
DragonballzrocksNew voice narrator is awful. This was the first podcast I’d ever listened to and by far the best but this along with the weekly is terrible with the new narrator. What happened? It sounds like AI. I am so sad.

Meeshmallow4Revisit your motivations plz!The stories are great but the lack of consistency and transparency ruins the excitement for me. If you say every Friday, upload every Friday. If you start a project, see it through. This is a form of art that takes time and lots of creativity but you’d be so much more successful if you were. I’ve seen how many projects this man is making and keep being pushed to listen to other projects instead of being able to listen to the one I started. I understand the want to make money, but each piece of art deserves the fullest commitment. The last pod I listened to, the it didn’t start until SIX minutes in because of ads and there were ads thoroughout. I can’t help but get the impression of greed, when I should be getting excitement to share and creating good, quality work.
-
OgkenobiRecapsI’m loving these recap episodes, thanks Payne!
-
EricBHogginNever comes backAt the end of each season he says he’ll be back with updates soon AND THEN NEVER GIVES AN UPDATE
-
the destroyer1Mom of the yearHey maybe Kristal shoulda stayed home with her husband and taken care of her daughter instead of getting in touch with the earth goddess Gaia

rachelerin2450Stop with the replaysI'm of the same opinion as many of the other others writing reviews in the last few months... where did the end of the Alaska season go? Why did you say that you were coming back with new episodes in January February 2025 when all you did was throw up repeats disguised as updates... at least as far as the first half of the crystal case these aren't update updates they are just rehashings of the same content from the original season. I think people would understand more if you just said you were busy and doing something else but saying the new season is out and then putting up recycled material doesn't go over well I am unsubscribing.

BingggggggggPhenomenal InvestigatingThis podcast brings to light unsolved cases that may never get the proper attention. And for that, all the respect in the world to UandV. The issue with following a real investigation is that it’s not always entertaining. What happened with season 1 where he investigated and actually helped solve the case was almost lightning in a bottle. It set people up to almost expect it in future seasons. But in all reality, the odds of him solving these is slim. So that makes it tough to be entertaining. People complain about adds but you can skip them. What you can’t skip is the repetition of the same stories or dialogue. That really bothered be. Would much rather the team release 1 episode ever 2-3 weeks that was actually packed with updates. Season 1 was the best by far, because we got to hear everything, and in the end it was solved. Now this podcast is also a business. Therefore the money made matters.

Space Brak 56Amateur At BestWhere to begin… this podcast is plagued with inconsistencies and the host is not sincere. The most glaring issue is he does not stick with his own schedule. How is an audience supposed to take him seriously or trust that he is a legitimate investigator if he cannot be trustworthy. Is he bringing awareness to a broader audience, sure. However, I don’t believe what he is investigating is even close to bringing closure for friends and family of the victims. Seems like he is wanting more subscribers to pay for “early content” but it is coming of more as a money grab.

nelggkgNeed to knowThis. I need it all back. It’s so good and well written and honest and scary at times!! I cannot wait for this show to come back to regular eps!!!!
-
ksubsnCaptivatingInvestigative podcasting at its finest. Can’t wait for each and every episode. Payne is the best at what he does. And most podcast intro music is terrible & cheesy, but the haunting music for UAV is spot-on.
-
OG-NaeAlways Compelling!Payne and his team know how to put a good podcast together. Not only is the investigative work top-notch and hard hitting, the scoring and presentation is also great. As a whole this podcast is amazing.
-
MadrhartSo goooood!Always has me wanting more!! Love this show, great work! One of my faves!
-
bunnyreebsWhat is going onWith this podcast?
-
melliebean13Grandma knows best!I travel frequently for work and this podcast has been my favorite way to pass time. Payne has a very pleasant voice, Phil Holloway is excellent with dumbing down legal terms, and Maurice Godwin is one of my favorite PIs. But the star of the podcast will always be Grandma and her Cowboy Cookies! Edit to add: Payne still saying “my” grandma like she isn’t “our” grandma now!
-
TOTampaNo new contentYou get halfway through a season and then it takes months long breaks and then you get teasers of new episodes that never come. What happened to Alaska? You guys never finished it and started going back to all these old cases that are done. We already listened to that. I enjoyed but then became increasingly frustrated at the lack of new content.
-
MickirayLong time fan disappointedI have listened to every episode of every season, and this season is just terrible. Every episode is repeated material. Same clips over and over. Three parts to season four covering two different people and now reopening all cases is wild. You aren’t even giving us more than 10-15 minutes of content per episode.
-
allnicknamesmatter2068471Land the Plane! An update: on occasion I check back to see if dude is still doing this. Drops 2 episodes back to back that say the same thing. He’s got nothing else in the tank, so let’s rehash the glory days when I stumbled onto something in season one. This show has officially jumped the shark. Started with season 4. Doubtful I’ll listen to the rest of the seasons after this one. 17 episode in and we still aren’t done. The topic is great. And he’s opened up a Pandora’s box with the investigation, but the content of the pod is just awful. Repeating information 2-3 times…in great detail. Playing full interviews rather than a summation. Playing audio where you hear someone destroying a keyboard rather than the dialog is hugely distracting. A good editor is your friend.
-
Nomore07Where’s the content? Was an enthusiastic listener until it became lots of hype, little content…and what little content was repeated, and repeated.
-
AngeluhhhMy favoritePayne is it. The real deal. I can’t get enough of his podcasts, and Tenderfoot. The amount of care he has put into Up and Vanished translates so well to the listener. The voice he’s giving to cases that deserve attention, is important work. 10/10- once you start listening, you’re hooked.
-
Jane 1890HuhWhy do I have to pay?
-
GinakristinGreat job investigating buutI’ve listened to every season but the actual content is so short. The episodes are long and I find myself skipping through ads, intros or recaps 4-5 times every episode. I even subscribed to tenderfoot to get rid of the ads, and still am constantly skipping through intros and recaps. Also THREE PARTS to season 4 is RIDICULOUS.
-
ILissaJEnough of the lengthy introPayne…I love the show, but anyone who has gotten this far knows all about how you were an amateur with a laptop and how far you’ve come. You don’t need to keep doing it. It’s a little self-serving in my opinion and also, time-consuming..and there is an heir of self-deprecation. Leave that to the comedians. You’ve come a long way, baby! We’re already proud of you!
-
!$Bon2921!$Content is good, buuutWow. It’s frustrating listening, because the actual content is good, but it’s only about 10 to maybe 15 minutes each episode. And you have to wait a week for that? Too many other good use that provide solid content for this.
-
TheAC44Payne is next levelOUTSTANDING! No one does it better…I mean this guy started out with Google and webslueths and he’s out here solving cases and doing real journalist work. Incredible. Keep it up!
-
Arizona151515BoringDude has the most monotone voice, it’s really boring sounding. Also, it’s clear that they didn’t have enough material, so they stretched out portions that should have been cut just to add minutes. Also, the narrator acts aghast and shocked at very normal and mundane happenings…looking for drama where there is none. I only listened to half, I got too bored.
-
mar47502WelpI’m sad that this is what up and vanished has become…endless hype and no delivery.
