-
LEJ418My favorite podcast!I love this podcast, it’s the only one I listen to. I’ve discovered so many great books this way that I never would’ve known about or tried. It completely changed my reading life for the better. I highly recommend this to all my bookish friends.

Rewbacca179Best Show for Bookish People! This show is great! Jenn and Amanda are really fun to listen to. They do a great job explaining books without giving too much away. Heck, even if I don’t need a book recommendation, it’s just fun to listen to what kinds of books and stories are out there! Highly recommend to anyone who loves to read.

suvata2Book recs or virtue signaling?I want Book recommendations, yes. Political commentary, not so much.
-
vlh93VickyA bit too much middle grade and YA
-
teagueislandeLatest episodeIn the April 1 episode, one of your book reviews said the main character grew up in Puerto Rico, then moved to the US to Miami. Puerto Rico is the US, thus she moved to continental US.

FreebeefrisbeeTired of the preachingLove the bookish part of the podcast but have gotten to the point I skip half or more of every episode due to political opinions and the constant identity groups being pushed. Sorry, but not worth the time any more.

Bettybooks13Amazing Book RecommendationsThis is one of my favorite book podcasts! The variety of books mentioned on the show can’t be found anywhere else and I’ve read so many amazing books recommended on this podcast. Amanda and Jenn are great hosts, and manage to explain just enough of the book to get me interested but don’t give away spoilers.

Jolene253Poor audio editing makes for a difficult listenI’m always interested in the episode topics on this show, but every time I try to listen I can’t help but be distracted by the audio cutting out every time they finish a sentence or thought. Sounds like an audio editing issue. It’s a shame because I want to listen but can’t get past the annoyance of the sound cutting out every second that I can’t even make it through a minute of the show! Please fix!!!

Goodbye Orchid, a novelCamaraderie and diverse recommendations!Amanda and Jenn are eminently entertaining and enjoyable. Kudos to their positive energy, camaraderie and diverse recommendations!

tkjk04A bookish favoriteI listen to a lot of bookish podcasts. This one stands out because many of the recommendations are not the “usual suspects”, which I greatly appreciate as I am trying to diversify my reading. Jenn and Amanda are a pleasure to listen to and as I keep up to date with each new episode, I am also enjoying the back list as well. My wheelhouse lately is lady in a dark, dank mansion with creepy stuff abound. Thank you for your work!

Pachelbel09Terrific hosts, excellent recommendationsI listen to this podcast every week. Love the hosts! They get right to the book talk and make wonderful, diverse recommendations.
-

KristynReneDIVERSITY!I absolutely love the diversity in book recs these ladies provide, and I find myself adding books every episode and looking forward to more recs 🤗❤️
-
auto-de-feNone 4 meI’ve arrived at a point where I am less inclined to pay heed to the recommendations given. It does not appear that books are put forward for being great, but rather instead because they checked the ‘appropriate’ boxes under GENDER, ETHNICITY, and SEXUAL PREFERENCE. I skip through most of the show hoping to catch a glimpse of some read outside of their usual trope. But alas, I believe it time to pack in my rod & reel. The music stopped, ain’t no mo’ chairs left...and I’m the only one still standing. Poof.
-
kcmari3Please stop over explaining the booksI really like your recommendations but please stop giving soooo much detail about the book!
-
Steph23414my favoriteThis is my favorite book-related podcast. I love the charisma between Amanda and Jenn, and the diversity of titles they discuss!
-
FeathermarGreat book talksReally awesome recommendations from all over the universe of stuff that’s available! I’m really enjoying listening to past episodes too, and finding other great authors!
-
t.s.h.2020Fave!This is probably my favorite show from the Book Riot suite of podcasts. I love Jenn and Amanda, their humor and wit. I also love the unique recommendations. I’ll never be able to read all the great books I’ve learned about here. ;)
-
dinopineAmazing - full TBRLove this podcast - every episode adds to my TBR pile. Their recommendations are varied and thoughtful - perfect show for book lovers
-
deelovesbooksLove this podcast!Get Booked has gotten me to read and be interested in books I normally wouldn’t gravitate to, and it’s been awesome! Thank you for a great podcast!
-
charikaelSo good!My only complaint is that they recommend SO MANY good books and I cannot read fast enough! 😫
-
MajesticBookHow I got thru 2019Jenn and Amanda are so delightful to listen to that, even though my TBR is a mile long, I still listen to them EVERY WEEK! They are charming, kind, funny, wonderful people who restore my faith in humanity. They also recommend great books! Because of them, I’ve discovered many amazing things and I’m very very grateful. Thank you ladies.

Generic Reader100% ResourceAmanda and Jenn are two of my favorite podcasters to listen to. The show is one of the few Bookstagram outgrowths that doesn’t completely suffer gatekeeping, publisher influence, and advertiser creepiness. The format invites readers to make requests that range from basic reluctant reader needs to ultra specific or otherworldly. Amanda and Jenn dig deep and reach wide to find books to fill that need. They are transparent with recommendations and confide how a work is effective, where it might fall off or when they had to outsource a title or genre. Recommendations range and no genre, author, issue or theme is excluded on this show. Democracy resonates and it keeps me looking for the next show in my podcast library. In terms of show hosts, they have so much energy, meaningful banter, stimulating introspection, candor galore and they are people you’d have on your dinner party list or any get together that sparks exchange. Shows are themed loosely and mostly driven by listener inquiry. I’ve had two of mine make it to the show and their recommendations were expansive and interestingly relevant for my gift recipients. I’m not a fan of the vitamin sponsors... I’ve had some bad reactions to them and am not sure that readers know how to fully vet ingredients or nutritional needs without FDA or verifying agency. Perhaps going forward they’ll gain other less questionable advertisers. Overall, it’s an outstanding show and the hosts are at the center of quality with their program. Wish there was more programming this good!

cardamomsmellsgoodMaybe I’m not woke enoughI only 3 starred this, but I persist in listening to every episode and I do get some really great book recommendations from this show. You can write in to the show to get personalized reading recommendations. I did this one time and my question did not make it on the show. I’m pretty sure it’s because I didn’t ask for a book about a transgender man written by a transgender woman, or whatever. Diversity seems to be their forte. And that’s cool! But I just want a well-written book and I do not care one iota if it was written by a 57-year-old straight white man. Also, they recommend A LOT of YA novels to adult readers and they don’t do a good job of saying, “this is a YA novel”. I have become interested in a number of books based on their recommendations just to start it and be disappointed to find a 15-year-old protag in a love triangle. This seems to be a problem with book riot in general; I guess a lot of adult readers must be mentally stuck in the 9th grade. Neither host likes Game of Thrones, so when they try to recommend read-alikes they fail miserably. Also, neither of them like horror books so they miss the mark most of the time there, as well. In spite of my griping, I do like the show. It is fast-paced, so I never feel like they are droning on about whatever stupid YA book they are recommending to 36-year-old Abby in Des Moines, or whatever. Because they talk about so many books per episode, I feel like I know a little bit about a lot of books. It’s a great feeling to be able to tell my bookish friends, “Hey, I’ve heard of that!”
-
musicsnobPretty much my favorite podcastThese ladies are awesome and I love their thoughtful and concise recommendations. A great podcast for people who really want to get to some fantastic book reviews and recommendations, and very little filler content. One of my biggest critiques of other podcasts is that they aren’t well-edited and a lot of time is spent on topics or tangents that have nothing to do with the subject matter of the podcast. I never feel that way about this show, and always enjoy it!
-
RachelsifeLove it but audio is horribleI absolutely love this podcast. I’ve gotten such good recommendations from them. However, I knocked off two stars because I cannot believe how bad the audio quality is. One mic is obviously lesser than the other and I’m constantly blasting my volume for one of the hosts and then lowering it for the other. This is a podcast... audio quality is EVERYTHING. Great content but sometimes it’s just too annoying to listen to. Please invest in a better mic

HaveAudiobookWillTravelGreat listen every weekThanks to Get Booked, my TBR list has doubled. Even on the occasion my interests don’t align with requesters’, I still love hearing the hosts’ discussions. Get Booked is my favorite of all the Book Riot podcasts.
-
helloitsme3241Better than reviews - recommendationsSimple concept, well executed. Tailored book recommendations based on readers questions. These women obviously love books and enjoy each others company and ideas. I love this podcast

Kyle McClellandEnjoyable. Would recommend...with a grain of salt.I quite enjoy listening to Jenn and Amanda talk about books in the mornings as I get ready for my day. When I first began listening to this podcast I listened to a couple of the most recent episodes and enjoyed them so much that I went back and listened to all of their past ones, starting with episode 1 and working my way up. I did have to take a small break around and after election time due to Amanda’s negativity about the outcome of said election. Not that I didn’t agree with some of her opinions, but the content was causing me to start my day feeling bitter, which is never good. I would also sometimes pick up on a sense of hatred towards anyone not a POC, which I have a hard time listening to because it’s reverse racism and is just as wrong as racism itself. However, their most recent episodes have been better, with my TBR constantly growing. This is my favorite BookRiot podcast to listen to, and I recommend it whenever possible.

JillBo411Greatest gift ever!!! Newly edited.I see I’ve already reviewed but I want to add that I was the person who asked for the book about White Russians escaping when the Tsar fell. I loved your recommendations and had Lost Roses been out then I’m sure you would have named it. I’m just starting it now. Keep being awesome ladies!!! I love your reviews and I usually just add to my TBR list. But - a few months ago you recommended Vol 1-3 plus Children's Lit of Graphic Cannon. I ordered all four for my son who turns 28 this week. He has two young kids. I can honestly say that I have NEVER gotten him a better gift. He loves it!!! Though he may not come up for air and his wife may do me a harm!! 😉 Keep up the good work!!
-
Reglara79Love these ladiesI can never forgive Amanda for recommending A Little Life, Lol, nobody should ever recommend sadness and depression, but honestly, I’ve read so much more just listening to them talk about books with such excitement. Amanda and Jenn are freakin awesome! I totally cosign all the other 5 star reviews.
-
Mamacita329My first addictionThis is the first podcast I’ve listened to that made me go back and listen to them ALL. Such great recs, great dialogue and both Jenn and Amanda are great to listen to. Great podcast voices, lots of humor, and thoughtful suggestions. So glad it’s weekly!!!

karen riccioLOVE books AND this podcastI am an avid reader. This podcast is so enjoyable I actually down load episodes and listen to them multiple times. Amanda and Jenn have such a good chemistry on these podcasts and are great at giving recommendations. They describe books so well, but never spoil. I have created my own TBR per Get Booked Goodreads shelf. Thank you Book Riot for making this podcast available.
-
knickknackpatty1302Insightful!Amazing podcast! I would recommend this to anyone interested in books and looking for something to read. I had tried other podcasts about books and nothing was working out. I love this podcast because they recommend multiple books in each episode and give great descriptions/summaries without giving away too much.
-
incognito82How many books do you read?I am amazed how many books these two ladies read. I think I read like 5 books a year. This podcast inspired me to read more.
-
JKS04Love this podcast! So much fun and so interesting! You get to hear about books from every possible genre and whether or not the books make it your personal TBR, it's fascinating to hear what other people are reading and why! The podcast is entertainment all on its own in that respect, and I've never had such an interesting line up of books to read!
-
ShevyDWA binge-worthy podcastI’m always in need of new book podcasts to listen to, especially when I’m walking the dog first thing in the morning, or after a long day at work. As such, I don’t always want to be learning about the state of world affairs, but rather just listening to people be enthusiastic about something they love. This podcast fills those requirements to a T. It’s fascinating to here what specific sub-genres other people are looking for, and satisfying to here even very specific quests matched to a their perfect book. I’m glad I have a ton of back episodes to listen to, because I’ll be flying through them in the next couple weeks! (Also, as a sometimes independent bookseller, these recommendations are perfect for building up my own mental library of recommendations for customers...)

Melanie MefLove Book RiotI love All the Books and the Book Riot podcast so so much, but this one is not as good as it could be, in my opinion. Although Jen is very pleasant, Amanda seems a little bitter and angry at times and it makes the show a little heavier than it should be. Both ladies are bright and informative and seem to like each other a lot, but I do wish Amanda would lighten up a little. Sorry, Amanda. I don’t mean to sound unkind.
-
BraytnyExcellent way to find new booksThis is a great podcast, with engaging and enthusiastic hosts. I’ve added to my TBR list after every episode. And I’ve particularly loved the emphasis on children’s book recommendations.
-
kdjellouliI’m booked! You guys have some of the best recommendations of books I would’ve never thought to read, and I love that you list each book in the description of each episode. If it would be possible to repeat the name of each book after each description you give during the podcast it would be much appreciated! Otherwise, keep doing what you’re doing!
-
Lindseykc81New favoriteEvery time I listen to a new Book Riot podcast I love it as much as the ones before. I'll be adding Get Booked to my weekly must-listen. Thanks gals!
-
ourladyoftheupsidedownGreat podcast!I really enjoy this podcast and I like how the hosts aren't really afraid to be political (the personal is political you guys, politics gets into Everything)
-
Vickkytorimar1991The worst thing to happen to me TBR ListEvery episode I end up with 3 book to ad to my TBR list. Never had a show I didn’t have at least 1 book to read.
-
NapZoneQweenFave Podcast EvaaaI found this podcasts sometime last year and have just completely fallen in love with it! I always look forward to the next episode and Jenn and Amanda just the best when it comes to finding books that answer the questions they're asking each episode. This is a fantastic resource to listen to when in a read slump, or if you're unsure what to read next. And it's most definitely suitable for all ages!
-
IcepopapopSOO GOOD! Never be without book recommendationsGreat recommendations (and at least you can pick and choose from multiple ones). Hot tip: See the questions in each episode when you tap on the "GET BOOKED" show feature picture and scroll down.
-
june2septAwesome recommendations from super fun women!Jenn and Amanda are so much fun to listen to and have a really interesting knowledge of books. I get excited when I have actually read something they are recommending and loved too! My TBR has grown so much from listening to them and I appreciate how diverse the picks are. I also love that they freely admit when they have no idea and seek out people who can help. All around great show ladies!!
